New project, and such...

Sigh.....

Hello, this is andromeda, and I wanted to say some things about a new project I'm starting.

After I made the difficult decision of dropping the Wara/Mada pair from Brain Carnival, I still wanted to tell a story similar to theirs, so I started a new project to do just that.

Breaking away from Brain Carnival definitely gave me more freedom in story writing and character building, but being completely free from the somewhat strict rule of maintaining a connection to the 2000 series felt more like a curse than a blessing.

I can't confidently say anything yet (I haven't even decided on the medium, but it most likely will be a VN), my mind is racing 24/7 to figure something out, coming up with new ideas, discarding old ones, and debating if I should keep some elements or not. It's quite hard.

I know what the basic plot of the story will be: "Guy tries to help his messed-up coworker and former friend just to have some meaning in his pathetic life, but it goes to shit for both of them. Oh, and also it's a BL of course it is. And it's also dark and like stuff omgggg", but I'm still trying to figure out the specifics. I don't even know how the story will start, or how they'll meet, etc. I have some plot points figured out, but I don't really know how to connect them to each other, and I definitely know the ending. Or, at least one of the endings, since if it's a VN or VN- adjacent I'm going to have to give it more of those...

The project doesn't even have a title yet, so I'll just refer to it as "4EWR" for now. (I'll talk more about this in a moment!!!)

About the characters, here I'd like to introduce everything I know about them.

Before getting into the main topic, I’d like to talk about their names first.

I chose these in particular because if you take their initials and combine them, they spell out "4EWR" (note: "yotsu" in Japanese means 4). It's kinda cool, right?

One thing I like about the Japanese language is that you can hide a ton of meaning in a name, but here the names weren't chosen for any other special reason other than to make the number 4 and acronym thing work, lol.

(BTW their names are written as 四葉 英介 and 渡瀬 れい respectively)

Now let's finally get on topic...

The story will be told from Yotsuba's perspective, so I'd like to say a thing or two about him first.

He didn't change that much from Mada; he's still your usual tired salaryman with a weird saviour complex, but I'd imagine that he's a lot less "insecure" than Mada was.

Huh, I'm really having trouble with describing personalities and such, sorry about that...

For Rei, his personality didn't change that much from Waraeru's either. He's still basically a depressed, suicidal, tired, clingy/dependant, incompetent, and somewhat insane person, just like Waraeru was, but with the difference of having those weird and insane parts of him being toned down a bit, which I'd like to bring back, actually.

His design is also practically just a colour swap of Waraerus. I just liked Wara's design too much, and straying too far away from it just felt "wrong", so I kept it looking almost the exact same. You could say this is lazy.... and you'd be right, but I feel like since they're both my own characters, copying from myself isn't that big of a deal...
