Hello, this is andromeda, and I wanna write about one of my favourite characters, Waraeru.
I think "Waraeru 2000" is probably one of the most interesting 2000 series songs out there, and it's definitely one of the most unique songs I've heard in a while... It's hard to describe, really; the instrumentals mostly consist of strange background noise, and the vocals are just a guy completely losing his mind. It's definitely worth a listen, even if musically it's not for everyone.
Anyway, not to brag, but I think translating the song into a character went really well. His personality reflects the song perfectly, I think...

Initially, he was supposed to be pretty depressed, unhinged, creepy, tired, pitiful, and just completely done with life, but I think I took it a bit too seriously, so I toned it down a little and exaggerated his "unhinged" and "creepy" side a bit. So, those things are still true, they're just played for more of a laugh now.
I like him because he's probably the most relatable character for me. When I was first creating Waraeru, I projected a lot on him, that's probably why... (most of those traits are not really apparent now, though.) Also, I kinda have a thing for pathetic men like him but let's not dwell on that now.
Though.... I'm still a bit unsatisfied. I think a character like him is very much worth exploring in a more serious context, but as I said many times before this post, it wouldn't fit into Brain Carnival, so I'm probably not doing it.

Oh, I also want to talk about his character design for a bit. He probably has the longest-standing unchanging design, so congrats on that, I guess.
His hair color is some strange desaturated green colour. At first, I wasn't sure what made me pick it. At the time, it just "felt right," but I think subconsciously my thought process was "Grass (japanese internet slang for laughter)→Green" or something. As for his hairstyle, honestly, I don't really know what's going on. I'm not sure how it would even look in real life... but I guess the strangeness of it fits the character well, so it's ok. Coincidentally, the hair at the back (???) is sorta shaped like W's, so that's kinda fun.

There's not much to say about his outfit. It's nothing special. One really small thing to note is that his tie color was first picked to match Mada's, but since he got redesigned (initially it was red, but now it's mostly white), that's kinda irrelevant now.
